That's all I could do as I took a shower. The thought of it... it was surreal. It was a... no, THE moment of serendipity. At the entrance of Wheelock Place, she stood about 2 metres away from me. She had this look on her face that reminded me of the one I had. A slight frown, eyebrows pointed downwards, a slight pursing of the lips... and those eyes... God... those eyes. Suddenly, she shot me a gaze, directly into my eyes. I notice that she is prettier when she's looking at me. She must've caught me looking... honestly, I probably wanted her to catch me anyway. "Hi", I said, shit-eating-grin included. "Hi", she said, I-see-your-shit-eating-grin-grin included. "You remind me of myself..." I said, as I narrowed my gaze at her. "Really... how come?" "You look like you are waiting for someone... and that someone is obviously... not on time." She laughs. Our eye contact is finally broken. Just in time, I thought my retina was gonna burst. "I'm Xavier", said I. "I'm Victoria." said her. After a conversation about being in the "Endless Waiting" Club that expanded onto a $240 prawns-date and chicken wings BBQ competition, we exchanged numbers.
A week later...
As I wiped off the last drops of water from my eyes, I took 3 steps towards the mirror and proceeded to put on my contact lenses. After struggling for 5 minutes, I finally managed to get them on without looking like I cried after attending a wake. I took my hair-dryer and proceeded to dry my hair and fluff it around with my fingers like I knew what I was doing. I then take a dab of hair-wax and proceed to style my hair, making little spikes at strategic spots and ruffling it up at certain areas to produce a perfectly-imperfect look. I get out of the toilet and proceed to put on my freshly-ironed shirt and jeans, coupled with a rock-star belt. To top it all off, I slapped on my rings, necklace and wristband to complete my look. 2 spurts of Hugo Boss Number One later, Im out and headed for my date.
I see her standing by the window of Borders Bookstore, glancing up and down. I walk till I am about 5 metres from her and call out her name. I stay a good distance away and we took a few seconds to admire one another. The slit by the side of her body-hugging blue dress was a sign that she meant to kill tonight. Her bohemian ear-rings dangled enticingly as she flipped her hair to the side, revealing a pair of gorgeous eyes unlike any other I have ever seen. As she walked towards me, her swagger seemed to bring with her a kind of energy so appealing, so excitable and so... indescribable.
"You look good..." Victoria said as she eyed me from head to toe and back up to my eyes again. Her lips slowly part and I can't help but look at them. Delicious, I thought to myself. As I proceed to hug her, I feel her grip tighten around my shoulder and my shirt as she took a nice whiff of my scent. I would write in greater detail if my mind and senses weren't engaged by the smell of her neck as I gripped her like my life depended on it. I closed my eyes and got lost in the moment of that electrifying embrace... It was a good few seconds that seemed to have lasted longer than the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
I push her away from the hug and slide my hands down to her waist. I look her in the eyes, and down to her lips, then back to her eyes again. "Can we not kiss?" I asked, because I was completely powerless by myself in such a decision.
No answer.
